S.T. Dupont produced its first lighter in 1941, laying the foundation for a lighter-making tradition that would come to define the maison. The Ligne 1 followed, introduced in the 1960s as the BS (Briquet Standard), and refined in the 1970s into the BR (Briquet Réglable) — the precisely engineered, adjustable butane version that became the model's defining form, produced through the early 2000s and prized for its compact size.

This small Ligne 1 BR carries an added layer of history: a custom silver jacket fitted over the original lighter by its former owner. In Italy, dressing a Dupont Ligne 1 in a bespoke silver sleeve like this was a popular practice for a period, most likely the work of an Italian jeweller. The pattern is entirely unique and custom-shaped around the lighter's body, unlike anything you'll find elsewhere.
