Solid gold is the least documented corner of S.T. Dupont collecting. The lacquer lines have been catalogued in detail and the plated finishes are familiar to anyone who has handled a few lighters, but the solid 18 carat models — the pieces the house sold under the heading or contrôlé 18 carats — surface rarely, and are described inconsistently when they do. Reference numbers are frequently missing altogether.
This reference is an attempt to close that gap. It is built from first-hand material rather than compiled from listings: lighters I have handled or examined directly, original S.T. Dupont catalogue pages, and archive photographs. Where a reference number is known, it is given. Where it is not, the entry says so rather than guessing.
The models are arranged chronologically, from the earliest gold examples of the 1950s through to current production. Some entries are thin because the evidence is thin — that is a fair reflection of the state of knowledge, and I would rather publish a documented gap than an invented certainty.

The 1950s and 1960s: the earliest solid gold Duponts
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont D57 (1952–1960)
The earliest solid gold S.T. Dupont lighters are shrouded in mystery. The first examples appeared during the production run of the D57. Beyond personally witnessing these models, I have not found any examples documented online.
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont transitional model (reference unknown)
The underside carries the S.T. Dupont Paris signature, the Cartier retailer mark, and French gold hallmarks.
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont with horizontal stripes and an oval shape. This does not concern a regular S.T. Dupont model, as they had a square shape. In many ways it concerns a transitional model, as it has characteristics of both the D57 and the BS. The bottom of the lighter has the mark ‘Cartier’, indicating it was sold in their stores.
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 1: BS (1959–1973) and BR (1965–2013)

‘Or contrôlé 18 carats’ — Ligne 1 BS, small model (reference unknown)
Solid 18k gold Ligne 1 BS small model with a pattern of thin vertical stripes and overlaying dots. This model was also available as a large model. The lighter is solid 18k gold. The lid, roller and valve cover are so too. Sold for 2,050–2,300 French francs. Sold in the 1960s–1970s.
‘Or contrôlé 18 carats’ — Ligne 1 BS, vertical lines in yellow gold (reference unknown)
Solid 18k gold Ligne 1 BS with a pattern of vertical lines in yellow gold. This model was also available as a BR and in the other size. The lighter is solid 18k gold. The lid, roller and valve cover are so too. Sold for 2,050–2,300 French francs. Sold in the 1960s–1970s.
Ligne 1 large model, basket weave (reference unknown)
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 with a basket weave pattern, consisting of a dense interlocking motif arranged in horizontal rows. The lighter is solid 18k gold. The lid, roller and valve cover are so too. There is one example known that also carries the Tiffany & Co. marking, indicating it was originally sold in their store. Sold in the 1970s.
The 1980s: solid gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 2

Solid 18k yellow gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 with a woven basket design. The design utilises three diagonal strings of gold in a row that are woven over one another in opposing directions. The lid is fully made of woven 18k gold. The roller, bottom and knobs are solid 18k yellow gold as well. Year of lighter is 1983.

The 1990s: solid gold S.T. Dupont models
Reference 14943 — Ligne 1, woven white and yellow gold
Woven solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 1. This model is made of a woven pattern of white and yellow 18k gold strings. It is quite a unique structure, as the lid is fully made out of the woven structure without any support of solid metal or gold slabs. The bottom is made of a solid slab of 18k gold. The roller and cover of the valve are also solid gold. A 1990s product.
Reference 14945 — Ligne 1, vertical stripes
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 with a pattern of vertical stripes. The bottom is made of a solid slab of gold, as well as the knobs, the roller and the lid. A 1990s product.
Reference 18940 — Gatsby, barley corn
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Gatsby with a barley corn pattern and a polished vertical slab on the right side of the design. The lid, roller and knobs are all solid 18k gold. A 1990s product.
Reference 17985 — Ligne D, three colour gold
Solid 18k gold S.T. Dupont Ligne D in a spectacular three colour design. The six vertical lines alternate in pink, white and yellow gold. The lid, roller and knobs are solid 18k gold. This concerns the second generation Ligne D, with a traditional circular knob covering the filling valve rather than the oval one of the first generation.
The 1990s: solid gold S.T. Dupont Ligne D factory jackets
These belong to the same production run. All are solid gold jackets over a brass body and lid. As these models exist out of two separate parts, the location of manufacturing could also be split in two places. The golden sleeve was produced in Italy, as the hallmark ‘IT.18Kt’ tells us, while the bare brass body and final assembly was done in France. One example has the marking 0144 on the bottom; this might refer to either the production number or the serial number. A different model, which is not in my possession, has the marking 0319.

Ligne D — white and yellow gold vertical stripes

Reference 17907 — Ligne D ‘Grana Riso’
18k gold jacket S.T. Dupont Ligne D with a barley corn or rice grain design, embroidered in a polished gold frame. On the right side of the lighter the frame is thicker, consisting of three vertical lines that bend inwards on the lid. It concerns a thick 18k solid yellow gold sleeve that is attached to a brass body. A sheet of solid 18k gold is attached around the roller. The knobs are solid 18k gold. Measurements are 5.5 x 3.4 x 0.8 cm. The original selling price was €10,000.
Reference 17905 — Ligne D, lined pattern
18k gold jacket S.T. Dupont Ligne D with a pattern of lines, even extended to the roller. It concerns a thick 18k solid yellow gold sleeve that is attached to a brass body. A sheet of solid 18k gold is attached around the roller. The knobs are solid 18k gold. The original selling price was €10,000.
The 2010s: solid gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 2

2026: solid gold S.T. Dupont Ligne 2
Solid 18k gold jacket S.T. Dupont, with a design consisting of infinite overlapping balls applied around the lighter. The design is inspired by the mineral texture of molten gold. The lighter is available in yellow, white and rose gold, and is limited to only eight pieces in each. The pictures show a jacket design, in which a sleeve of thick 18k gold is installed over a brass body. The lid is therefore not purely made of gold, but has a brass basis. The roller appears to be made of solid gold. S.T. Dupont confirms that this solid gold Ligne 2 will weigh approximately 100 g in total, including 30 g of solid gold per piece.
