S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 large gold diamond tip lighter NEW OLD STOCK with box and papers
S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 Grand Modèle — Gold Diamond Tip, New Old Stock
A S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 in the full-size Grand Modèle, finished in gold with the diamond tip pattern — pointe de diamant — in new old stock condition, with its box, outer sleeve and guarantee card.
S.T. Dupont produced its first luxury lighter in 1941 and has always been a maison of engine-turners as much as of engineers. Pointe de diamant is the most demanding of its guilloché patterns: instead of lines or a flat grid, the surface is cut into a dense field of tiny four-sided pyramids, each one with its own apex. It is the same treatment used on fine watch dials and cigarette cases, and it is unforgiving — a single mis-cut row is visible across the whole panel.
The reward is the way it behaves in the light. Because every pyramid presents four faces at four angles, the surface never goes flat: turn the lighter and it moves between deep shadow and full brilliance. In gold this is the most alive of all the Dupont finishes.
This example is new old stock, never carried, with the points crisp and unrubbed — the first thing to soften on a lighter that has lived in a pocket. Offered with its original box and papers, serviced and in perfect working order.
