S.T. Dupont Ligne 1 Table Lighter — Silver Prince of Wales, Mint, With Box and Papers
A vintage S.T. Dupont table lighter from the Ligne 1 family, finished in silver with the Prince of Wales pattern, in mint condition with nearly no signs of use and complete with its original presentation box and Garantie booklet.
S.T. Dupont produced its first luxury lighter in 1941, and while the pocket lighters are what most collectors know, the maison also made lighters for the desk. A table lighter is a different kind of object: taller, with real presence on a desk or side table, and built around a large single flame rather than the compact burner of a pocket model. They were made in far smaller numbers than the pocket lines and are much harder to find, particularly in this condition.
The tall body gives the engine-turned Prince of Wales pattern a much larger field to work across than a pocket case ever could, so the texture reads as a continuous surface rather than a small panel — catching the light in bands as you turn it. In silver the effect is cool, precise and architectural.
This example is mint, with nearly no signs of use: the pattern is sharp to the edges and the finish unworn. It comes in its original tall S.T. Dupont presentation box with the Garantie S.T. Dupont, Orfèvres à Paris booklet and printed literature. The large single flame lights cleanly and evenly.
A rare desk-scale S.T. Dupont, complete and in exceptional condition. Serviced and in perfect working order.
