A vintage S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 in the smaller Petit Modèle size, finished in gold with a flowing wave guilloché and fitted with a custom dual flame insert. In great condition throughout.

S.T. Dupont produced its first luxury lighter in 1941, and the Ligne 2 that followed in 1977 is the model most often modified by specialists today — precisely because the mechanism is good enough to be worth the work. The wave pattern on this example is one of the more unusual finishes in the catalogue: rather than straight lines or a repeating grid, the engine-turning runs in soft concentric ripples across the whole face, closer to moiré silk than to metal.

We describe the dual flame honestly, because it matters. This is a custom insert, not factory specification — a specialist conversion that replaces the single jet with a twin-flame burner. It is a well-executed and popular modification that gives a broader, hotter flame better suited to cigars, and it does not affect the authenticity of the lighter itself. It simply is not how the piece left Paris, and it should be bought with that understood.

The result is a genuinely useful vintage Dupont: the softness of the wave guilloché with a flame that will light a cigar outdoors. Serviced and in perfect working order.
