S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 Grand Modèle — Real Wood Inlay, With Original Box
A vintage S.T. Dupont Ligne 2 in the full-size Grand Modèle, faced in real wood with gold-toned borders and a fluted gold roller, presented in its original box.
S.T. Dupont produced its first luxury lighter in 1941, and the Ligne 2 that followed in 1977 became the model the maison is known for. Alongside its lacquer and engine-turned finishes, Dupont offered a small run of lighters faced in precious woods — bois précieux in the catalogues — sitting directly beside the Laque de Chine models in period literature. They were made in far smaller numbers than the metal finishes and are seldom seen today.
The appeal is that no two are identical. The grain runs differently on every panel, and it deepens with handling in a way plating and lacquer never do. On this example the dark wood is framed by polished gold borders that carry over onto the lid, with the fluted roller providing the only bright highlight on the lighter.
An unusual and quietly warm vintage Dupont, complete with its original box. The lighter has been serviced and is in perfect working order.
