S.T. Dupont Jeroboam Maharajah table lighter
S.T. Dupont Jeroboam Maharajah Table Lighter — 1996 Limited Edition
A genuinely rare S.T. Dupont Maharajah Jeroboam table lighter, from the 1996 limited edition of just 500 ever produced — finished in gold, mother-of-pearl, and black and coromandel Chinese lacquer.
The name Maharajah evokes the East, 1001 Nights, and dreams of a never-ending journey. Since 1872, S.T. Dupont had been creating exceptional travel pieces — luggage, leather goods, and accessories — for the elite of the era's far-off destinations. In the 1930s, a Maharajah commissioned a gold lighter as part of his personal travel accessories, a piece of Dupont history that the maison drew on in 1996 to create this limited edition, evoking the splendour of the East through fine materials worthy of kings.
This is the large Jeroboam table lighter from that collection — the rarer of the two formats released, with only 500 ever made, against 2,000 of the smaller pocket lighter. Finished in gold, mother-of-pearl, and a striking combination of black and coromandel Chinese lacquer, it's a genuinely uncommon piece even by the standards of vintage S.T. Dupont collecting. The lighter has been serviced and is in perfect working order.
