Vertical striping is the quietest of its engine-turned finishes and, on the small body, the most flattering. The lines run the full height of the case and continue across the fluted roller, so the lighter reads as a single tall object rather than a case with a mechanism bolted to it. On the Petit Modèle the stripes sit closer together than on the full-size model, which makes the finish look finer and the case narrower in the hand.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eThe base carries the serial \u003cstrong\u003e84 J F Z 42\u003c\/strong\u003e. The leading digits are the production year, which places this lighter in \u003cstrong\u003e1984\u003c\/strong\u003e, and the engraving is crisp and unworn — a base is usually the first place a lighter shows its age, because it is the face that meets the table.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003cp\u003eCondition is mint.
